Apple iPhone 4S and Camera + app

phone

I did it.  I actually did it.  After 3 years of using my trusty iPhone 3G, I have FINALLY upgraded to the iPhone 4s.  My 3G was on it’s last leg.  It was constantly freezing up and apps would crash.  I had to restart my phone several times a day.  It was time.  So, Friday morning, I had some change in plans, so I thought, “What the heck.  I’m going to head over to AT&T to see what it looks like.  It was surprisingly mellow there.  I’m not sure if it’s because many opted to pre-order or not, but I thought, “Eh, line is fairly short, I’ll go for it.”  It took me about 2 hours total to get my phone.  I heard their servers had a little bit of a malfunction causing some delay.  The AT&T folks were great.  They offered up games and trivia questions while we waited.  We were reassured that there were plenty of phones to go around.

What did I pick you ask?  Well, I opted for the 32GB White phone.  I really struggled with this decision.  My previous phone was an 8GB phone.  I remember when I bought it, I just thought anyone who got more than 8GB was silly.  Ooops!  I ran out of space so quick.  I like to carry slideshows on my phone to show potential clients, so my space was quickly used up.  I also started adding movies to my phone so I could watch them while I was waiting for my personal appointments.  I quickly realized 8GB was not much space.  With the HD 1080p capabilities of the 4S, I thought it better to go bigger.  It is likely I’ll keep this phone for another 3 years, so I better make it worthwhile.

I thought with the new iOS, I would download a photography app and try it out with the new 8MB f2.4 camera they have built.  I decided to try the Camera + app.  I’ll play around with it to see if there is anything fun or if another app would be better.

One of the coolest features is Siri.  I think I had downloaded this app before, but it may have been too sophisticated for my 3G.  This thing is awesome.  I put it to the test and had my friends give me questions to ask her.  FYI:  She CANNOT teach me how to Dougie.  I know, I was bummed too!  BUT, she’s got super clever answers to a few questions!  It’s quite entertaining.   On a more practical note, she was able to tell me when Easter would be in 2012 as well as Passover.  She was able to text a message for me to my husband that said my Siri was better than his.  I’m going to see what other fun things I can do with this thing.  I think it will definitely help me in conducting my business.

I hope this gives you a little insight from me as to what the phone is like.  I’m noticing a HUGE difference, but remember that I upgraded from the 3G.  It’s kind of a big deal!!!! I’ll also keep you posted on the camera app and the fun new camera and HD video recording!

  1. [...] Of course, the other option is to use the apps available on your phone.  The smart phone now allows for easy transfer of media between phone and computers.  I have done that before for some of my photos for fun.  Some of the applications offer a quick and easy solution to editing on a computer.  You just have to be careful because sometimes these apps decrease the image quality.  So, if you’re using your phone apps, make sure that you check your image quality.  The phone apps I like are Camera+, Photoshop Express, and of course Instagram!  I’ve reviewed the Camera+ app here.
