I’ll be the first to admit it — landscape photography is NOT my strength, but when I was asked by a friend C for a piece of colorful art to display in his new home, I pulled out some old work I did a few years ago.  Then, I thought that this was a challenge and I should embrace it.  I didn’t want anything too bold.  I was really thinking of the rich blues you see in the night sky.  So, last night, I headed out to the Powerhouse area in Folsom to snag a few photos.

First, I thought I missed my opportunity.  You see, I was very comfortably and deeply asleep on the couch.  I asked my husband to wake me up in 5 minutes so I could go catch the sunset.  Here’s the thing, I’m a “snoozer”.  Meaning, I LOVE the snooze button.  I NEVER EVER EVER wake up on the first buzz of an alarm clock.  So, when my husband was trying to wake me up, I said, “5 more minutes.”  5 minutes became 15.  So, as we rushed downtown, I thought, “RATS!  We missed it!”  It was pretty dark by the time I made it down to the water.  I had to use my video light to light the way for us.  We eventually made it down there and I thought I would push the limits of my photography skill.  So, I issued myself a challenge.  Not only would I have to shoot a landscape photo, but I would have to do it in poor lighting conditions.  So, I played around a little and luckily had my tripod with me.  I was pleased with the outcome.

The ones I took at the end were definitely my better photos, but I really do love the blue night sky.  These phtotos are straight out of the camera with minor web sharpening and a change in resolution for the web.  I’m so honored that these will end up on C’s wall.  Thanks, C!!!  I hope you enjoy these!
